salty caramel milkshakes

Two words. Salty caramel. 


The two flavors together are delectable. I encountered the salty caramel combo in the form of salty caramel cupcakes from the numerous cupcakeries in Chicago (yes, cupcakeries and yes, I have a serious addiction). So. Good.

When I spotted a salty caramel milkshake recipe from The Food Network through Facebook, I knew it was meant to be. 

Surprise! This is the sweet cool treat that I used that dulce de leche sauce in.

The recipe includes few ingredients but the flavor is kickin'.

Here's the recipe:

Salty Caramel Milkshakes

What You Need (1 serving size):
1 cup of vanilla bean ice cream
1/3 cup dulce de leche sauce (could use caramel sauce too)
whipped cream
sea salt


Just toss the ice cream and the dulce de leche in a blender to combine. You can always toss in a bit of milk if necessary as well. 

Taste test as you mix. One: you'll want to. Two: just check the flavors out. 

Once things are tasting good, pull out whatever glasses you want to use. I drizzled a bit of dulce de leche in my glass, then filled it up with the caramel milkshake. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle in some sea salt.

One sip and you won't regret it. Salty caramel in milkshake form is just as good as salty caramel in any other form. Sweet and salty coming together for an instant cool dessert success. Dessert success. Salty caramel success!
